After listening to a sneak peak of their new music, I had to drop a quick post about one of my favorite bands, Evanescence!
After a five-year break, the 2 time Grammy Award winning band is due to release their new album this fall. If you are a fan like me, you have been feigning for this new album.
Evanescence’s music is timeless. They are one of those groups that give you more than a sound to move to, they give you music that moves you. If you’ve never heard an Evanescence song, you are doing yourself an injustice. For those of you who listen to AC 165 Radio, you know how important I believe it is to expand our musical horizons. Different genres of music provide us with different ways to express not only our emotions but our individual personalities as well. A great song is like having 3 besties on your side at the same time-Artist, Music and Lyrics. Music is that friend that comforts the inner places that a human touch can’t reach. The Lyrics of a song is that one friend that knows exactly what you want to say, when you can’t seem to put the words together yourself. And the Artist(s) is that friend that is not afraid to say it! Let’s just say that Evanescence has produced a few songs that I consider to be “friends”.
It’s hard to put Evanescence into a single music category. I personally consider them to be “rock fusionists”; blending all forms of rock-alternative, metal, goth, hard rock and tech sounds-with other forms of contemporary music to produce a sound that is uniquely theirs. If you love music that has fresh sounds and deep lyrics, then you will love this group. I highly recommend you give their music a listen.
The new single “What You Want” is due to release August 9th and the full album drops October 11th. I listened to the sneak preview of “What You Want” and was blown away by the sound. I can’t wait to hear the entire album. Lead singer Amy Lee told MTV.com in an interview earlier this summer that the theme of the new album is “freedom”; freedom to play, sing, be and do… What You Want. Love that!!!
